Comrade Bui Le Cuong said that Vietnam Electricity in general and Northern Power Corporation in particular have worked hard to provide electricity for people's needs and socio-economic development in 2023, despite facing many challenges brought on by general economic fluctuations. Heat, drought, and a lack of water have all had a significant negative impact on hydropower reservoirs as a result of the El Nino phenomena.

The frequency of water in many lakes is the worst it has been in 100 years, increasing the possibility that water shortages could disrupt the supply of electricity to customers. This is especially true in the Northern region, where 12/12 big hydropower lakes have very poor water flow to the lake. It is anticipated that there will continue to be an electricity shortfall starting in June, leading to both home electricity shortages, particularly in rural areas, and intermittent power cuts in production. It is advised that the Provincial People's Committee direct all levels and sectors to boost propaganda regarding the economical use of power, sharing difficulties, and supporting the electricity industry because it has a significant impact on customers at all times.
 
Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Manh Tuan expressed the admiration of provincial authorities for the sector's contributions to local socio-economic development. The provincial People's Committee gave media organizations instructions to work more closely with Tuyen Quang Power Company to promote propaganda about energy-saving techniques; set specific goals for administrative units and careers to reduce monthly electricity consumption by 10%; mandate public lighting units to reduce monthly electricity consumption by 50% over the same period; and reduce advertising and decoration lighting in restaurants and hotels.
